PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has issued a clarification regarding the relocation of electricity poles standing in the middle of Dalazak Road following public complaints that the structures are causing traffic accidents and creating difficulties for commuters.
Residents have demanded the removal of the electricity poles from the busy road expressing concerns over the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has also taken notice of the situation saying he would approach WAPDA officials and ask them to ensure the removal of the poles from the middle of the road.
According to the power utility the relocation process requires the concerned government department to deposit the required amount and pay the demand notice before the work can proceed.
PESCO officials said the company had previously written to the Communication and Works (C&W) Department requesting payment for shifting the electricity infrastructure.
The required funds were received in September 2026 following which the relocation work was initiated without further delay the officials explained.
Providing an update on the progress PESCO said Dalazak Road had been divided into three sections for the relocation project. Electricity poles along one section have already been shifted to safer locations.
The remaining work on the other two sections is expected to be completed during the current week, according to the company.
The clarification comes after growing public concern over electricity poles positioned in the middle of the roadway which residents say pose risks to road users.
With work underway commuters and local residents are awaiting the completion of the relocation project to improve road safety and reduce the risk of accidents along Dalazak Road.
