Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has criticised opposition politicians Raja Nasir Abbas and Mahmood Khan Achakzai questioning their efforts to secure the release of former prime minister Imran Khan from prison.
Targeting Senator Raja Nasir Abbas the PTI leader alleged that he maintained connections with influential figures within the establishment. However Saif questioned why these contacts had not been used more effectively to pursue the release of the former prime minister.
He also criticised Mahmood Khan Achakzai alleging that the opposition leader had shown little willingness to approach Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss Imran Khan’s release.
Saif further claimed that Achakzai had regained a National Assembly seat that he had previously lost with the assistance of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. He also questioned Achakzai’s decision to travel to Quetta during what he described as a critical phase of political negotiations.
According to the PTI leader Imran Khan had assigned Achakzai the responsibility of leading the opposition and establishing communication with the government. Saif alleged that he had not effectively used this responsibility to advance negotiations concerning the imprisoned PTI founder.
The PTI leader also made claims about Achakzai’s family alleging that he had approached Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to seek assistance in securing his son’s release.
Turning his attention to Raja Nasir Abbas Saif questioned his political approach describing it as largely focused on local administrative matters. He also claimed that former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur had played a role in facilitating Abbas’s election to the Senate.
Saif’s remarks have drawn attention to differences among opposition figures over political leadership, negotiations with the government and strategies for securing Imran Khan’s release.
The allegations reflect Saif’s personal account of the political developments and have not been independently verified.
