Peshawar School Roof Collapse: IGP KP Zulfiqar Hameed Expresses Deep Grief, Orders CCPO to Personally Supervise Rescue

PESHAWAR : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the heart-wrenching incident of school roof collapse in Dir Colony, Peshawar.

*IGP’s Directives:*

– IGP has directed CCPO Peshawar to personally supervise the rescue operations
– Ordered immediate and safe evacuation of persons trapped under debris
– Directed Chief Traffic Officer Peshawar to establish a green corridor for uninterrupted movement of ambulances
– Traffic flow on all routes leading to hospitals must be ensured at all costs, IGP KP
– Directed SSP Operations and Police Rescue Teams to utilize all resources on the spot

> “In this hour of grief, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police stands with the affected families. We pray for the speedy and complete recovery of children and teachers injured in the accident,” IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed said.

*Background of Tragedy for New Readers:*

The rear portion of three-storey Al-Khair School and Madrassa collapsed in Dir Colony. The roofs were made of mud, girders and debris. One roof collapse triggered the collapse of the roof below it, and then the one below that. Over 75 children were present, children were on all three floors, aged around 13. 17 bodies shifted to hospitals (16 children + 1 female teacher martyred), 25 children critically injured, 4 of 12 teachers injured. Narrow streets hampered rescue machinery, parents and locals removed debris on self-help basis. Emergency imposed in all major hospitals of Peshawar. SP City on site.
