PM Shehbaz arrives in London after UNGA address, stays at personal residence at no cost to government

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in London on Saturday following his visit to the United States, where he addressed the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During his London stopover, the Prime Minister is staying at his personal residence rather than a hotel, with no accommodation cost being borne by government funds, according to sources.

The Prime Minister is expected to remain in London for two days before returning to Pakistan.

During his stay in the United Kingdom, Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to hold meetings with senior investors and members of the business community. The discussions are expected to focus on investment opportunities in Pakistan, economic cooperation and strengthening commercial ties with the United Kingdom.

The London stopover follows an intensive diplomatic programme in New York, where the Prime Minister addressed the UN General Assembly and held a series of meetings with world leaders and international representatives on the sidelines of the session.

In his UNGA address, Shehbaz Sharif presented Pakistan’s position on major regional and international issues, including Palestine, regional security, climate change and development. He also reiterated Pakistan’s position on the Indus Waters Treaty and warned against any attempt to stop, impede or divert Pakistan’s share of waters.

Economic diplomacy remained another important component of the Prime Minister’s US visit, with engagements aimed at attracting international investment and highlighting Pakistan’s economic potential.

The Prime Minister is expected to return to Pakistan following the conclusion of his London stay.
