PM Shehbaz condemns Houthi attack on Riyadh airport

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, expressing heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and praying for the speedy and complete recovery of the injured.

In a statement, the prime minister said attacks targeting civilians and critical infrastructure were unacceptable under any circumstances. He warned that such acts of violence posed a serious threat to regional peace, stability and security.

Shehbaz Sharif called for an immediate end to attacks that violate international law, stressing the need to protect civilian lives and prevent further escalation of tensions in the region.

The prime minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, its leadership and its people. He reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom under the Mecca joint defence agreement, emphasising Pakistan’s resolve to stand by Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.

He further underscored the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, describing their relationship as rooted in mutual trust, shared interests and a longstanding commitment to supporting each other during challenging times.

The prime minister’s statement reaffirmed Pakistan’s position against attacks on civilian populations and essential facilities, while highlighting its continued support for Saudi Arabia’s security and stability amid regional tensions.
