Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad, where he paid tribute to the sacrifice of Group Captain Asim Tariq, praised the country’s security forces, and shared details of his recent diplomatic engagements with Iran and Türkiye.

During the meeting, the prime minister described the martyrdom of Group Captain Asim Tariq as a tragic loss for the nation. He said the officer laid down his life while protecting the life and dignity of a woman, calling his sacrifice a remarkable example of courage, professionalism, and devotion to duty. He added that such acts of bravery reflect the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to safeguarding the people.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also commended the security forces for their successful operations against militants. He praised them for eliminating members of the Khawarij and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continue efforts aimed at maintaining peace, protecting citizens, and strengthening national security. He said the sacrifices of the country’s security personnel would always be remembered with pride and respect.

Speaking about his recent visit to Tehran, the prime minister said he attended the funeral prayers of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He paid tribute to the late leader and extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistani people to the government and citizens of Iran. He said Pakistan stands in solidarity with Iran during this difficult time and shares in the grief of the Iranian nation.

The prime minister also briefed the cabinet on the outcomes of his recent visit to Türkiye. He said he held meetings with representatives of leading Turkish business groups to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and encourage greater investment in Pakistan.

According to the prime minister, Turkish companies were invited to explore investment opportunities in several key sectors, including energy, mining, minerals, and infrastructure. He noted that Pakistan offers significant potential for international investors and expressed confidence that enhanced economic collaboration with Türkiye would benefit both countries through increased trade, investment, and industrial cooperation
