‘Politicising deaths is an old PTI practice,’ says Uzma Bukhari

In a statement issued in Lahore, Bukhari claimed that PTI-supporting YouTubers had presented the death of a man named Ishtiaq in a misleading manner.

She said the deceased man’s son had also stated on record that the death was the result of an accident. According to Bukhari using such incidents for political point-scoring was an old practice of PTI and its founder.

Bukhari criticises Sohail Afridi’s Lahore visit

Bukhari also criticised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi over his visit to Lahore.

She alleged that Afridi had arrived in the city as part of a publicity stunt and had behaved disrespectfully toward Punjab Police officers at several locations.

Questioning whether such conduct was appropriate for the chief executive of a province, Bukhari claimed that Afridi visited the home of deceased Ishtiaq while wearing sunglasses and accused him of trying to gain political mileage from the situation.

Her remarks came after Afridi’s convoy reached Lahore where he became involved in a confrontation with police and later boarded a police prison van.

Bukhari raises questions over Kohat incident

The Punjab information minister also questioned Afridi’s decision to visit Lahore instead of Kohat.

She claimed that no PTI worker had turned out to welcome Afridi after his arrival in Lahore and said that no PTI leader had visited the home of the late Zill-e-Shah for three years.

Bukhari further pointed to a separate incident in Kohat where she said four people had died in a coal mine accident and questioned why the KP chief minister had travelled to Lahore instead of visiting the affected area.

The statements reflect the continuing political tensions between the Punjab government and PTI with both sides offering sharply different views of recent events.
