KARACHI: A woman and two children were found dead inside a house in Karachi’s Surjani Town while another young girl who was critically injured in the incident later died police said.
The incident took place in Sector 7-D of Surjani Town. According to police, the victims were attacked with a sharp-edged weapon.
The deceased were identified as 34-year-old Mahwish, six-year-old Harha and five-year-old Haneen. An 18-month-old girl identified as Ashmira was also found injured and was later reported to have succumbed to her injuries.
Initial information suggests that the deceased woman was the mother of the children.
Husband detained for questioning
Police detained the woman’s husband for questioning as part of the investigation. Authorities have not yet established who was responsible for the attack, and further inquiries are underway.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Surjani Police Station reached the scene along with a police team. Investigators are collecting evidence from the house while the bodies are being shifted to hospital for legal and medical procedures.
Sindh government takes notice
He directed police to collect all available evidence from the crime scene and investigate the incident from every possible angle. Officials were also instructed to complete the legal procedures concerning the identities and causes of death.
Lanjar said action should be taken against anyone found to be involved once sufficient evidence is established.
CM Murad seeks immediate report
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and took serious notice of the incident.
He described the killing of the woman and children in the knife attack as deeply distressing and unacceptable.
The chief minister directed the police to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured child and to make every effort to arrest those responsible.
He also assured that all possible measures would be taken to provide justice to the affected family.
Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
