PARACHINAR : Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers in District Kurram celebrated the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the suspension of the PTI-led provincial government by observing a day of thanksgiving and taking out a rally from Alamdar Chowk to Kurram Press Club in Parachinar.
A large number of party workers participated in the rally, carrying Pakistani flags and marching from Alamdar Chowk to the Press Club. The participants danced to celebrate the occasion and distributed sweets among the people.
Speaking to the media outside the Press Club, PPP Kurram President Hashmat Bangash and District General Secretary Chairman Malik Syed Asghar said that the performance of the PTI-led provincial government had failed to meet public expectations.
They claimed that people had continued to face serious difficulties in healthcare, education, law and order, and access to basic facilities. They added that the people of underdeveloped areas, particularly District Kurram, had been neglected.
The party leaders described the imposition of Governor’s Rule and emergency measures as necessary under the prevailing circumstances, expressing hope that the move would improve administrative affairs and pave the way for resolving public issues.
Supporting the decision, they said the Pakistan Peoples Party had always advocated the supremacy of the Constitution and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
The leaders also called on the authorities to prioritise the resolution of District Kurram’s longstanding problems during the period of Governor’s Rule, particularly the restoration of road links, improvement of healthcare facilities, and upgradation of educational institutions.
The rally concluded peacefully after participants chanted slogans in favour of the party leadership.
