PPP lawmaker challenges Europe to copy Sindh model

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Taimur Talpur has challenged any European state to establish a governance system similar to the one currently operating in Sindh.

Speaking during a session of the Sindh Assembly, Talpur defended the provincial government’s performance and rejected criticism of Sindh’s administrative system.

He questioned what more the Sindh government could do beyond the work it was already carrying out. He said those criticising the province’s governance should first examine the development projects being implemented across Sindh.

Talpur said the provincial government was working to improve public services and development infrastructure and that its performance should be assessed on the basis of work being carried out on the ground.

He also addressed the proposal for creating smaller administrative divisions, saying the idea could be discussed if dividing large divisions into smaller units could help improve governance and make administration more effective.

However, Talpur opposed dividing Sindh itself, saying there was a need to improve governance within the existing administrative structure rather than create new provincial divisions.

He maintained that the Sindh government was already taking steps to strengthen governance and would introduce further improvements where necessary.

Talpur said constructive discussion should focus on ways to make the existing system more efficient instead of demanding the division of the province.
