Prince Harry has shared a rare memory about the late Queen Elizabeth II, revealing that he was allowed to enter one of her most private rooms at Buckingham Palace only once.

Prince Harry has shared a rare memory about the late Queen Elizabeth II, revealing that he was allowed to enter one of her most private rooms at Buckingham Palace only once.

In his memoir, Spare, Harry recalled that he had never seen his grandmother’s private dressing room until he was 33 years old.

The special moment came shortly before his wedding to Meghan Markle, when Queen Elizabeth invited the couple to Buckingham Palace for a private tiara selection session.

Harry said the Queen gave Meghan the opportunity to view and try on pieces from her personal tiara collection.

He described entering the private dressing room, located near the Queen’s bedroom, as an extraordinary experience. He said the room included a jewellery expert, royal historian and the Queen’s longtime dresser and confidante, Angela Kelly.

According to Harry’s account, several tiaras from the royal collection were placed on a table, and Queen Elizabeth guided Meghan as she tried them on in front of a mirror.

Harry said the experience showed the unique position his grandmother held within the royal family. Although she was his grandmother, she was also the head of the monarchy.

He also recalled explaining this difference to Meghan before their meeting with the Queen, saying that meeting his grandmother was also meeting the British monarch.
