Princess Gloria rumour turns Bilawal into meme king

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has dismissed viral reports claiming that he is engaged to an Austrian princess, but his denial did little to slow down the internet’s meme machine.

Rumours about Bilawal’s alleged engagement to a woman identified online as “Princess Gloria” spread rapidly on social media over the weekend.

Posts circulating online claimed that the PPP chairman was preparing to marry into a European royal family. Some users even linked the alleged wedding plans to Austria and Liechtenstein.

The unverified claims quickly turned into a social media spectacle. Users began sharing memes, edited pictures and humorous reactions about the supposed royal wedding.

Bilawal eventually stepped in to address the rumours himself.

In a post on X, he said social media had already “fixed” his marriage, arranged his engagement and even decided that he would marry a woman he had never heard of.

He made it clear that no engagement had taken place. He also said he did not know anyone named Princess Gloria.

Bilawal suggested that such online controversies can sometimes distract public attention from more serious issues.

His clarification, however, arrived after the meme train had already left the station.

Social media users continued joking about the alleged royal connection. Some jokingly welcomed the imaginary princess as their future “bhabhi”, while others created fictional wedding scenarios involving Bilawal and European royalty.

His name was also dragged into a wave of fashion-related jokes. One viral post compared his appearance to Dubai chocolate, adding another layer to the already bizarre meme cycle.

Several users brought other Pakistani politicians into the imaginary wedding story. Memes featuring Sheikh Rasheed and Nawaz Sharif circulated as users imagined how political figures might react to Bilawal supposedly marrying a European princess.

Others took the joke in a more dramatic direction. Some posts imagined heartbreak, while others used old political videos and poetry clips to create fake reactions to the alleged wedding.

The rumours also sparked playful reactions from social media users who joked about their own search for a “prince” or “princess”.

Despite the flood of memes, jokes and edited posts, there is no confirmed royal romance behind the viral claims.

Bilawal’s position remains clear. He says he is not engaged to anyone named Princess Gloria and has never met her.
