Prof Dr Tasawar Hayat appointed Vice Chancellor of University of Sargodha

LAHORE: The Punjab government has appointed renowned mathematician and academic Prof Dr Tasawar Hayat as Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha for a four-year term with immediate effect.

According to a notification issued by the Higher Education Department (HED), the appointment was made on the recommendations of the Search Committee constituted under notification No. SO (Univ.)5-1/2018.VOL-VII dated April 1, 2026.

The notification, No. SO (Univ.)5-1/2018-VOL-III, states that the Governor/Chancellor, exercising powers under Section 12(6) read with Section 9(7) of the University of Sargodha Ordinance, 2002, has appointed Prof Dr Hayat as vice chancellor for a period of four years.

The appointment takes effect immediately.

The order was issued by the Governor/Chancellor through the Secretary of the Higher Education Department.

Prof Dr Tasawar Hayat is currently associated with the Department of Mathematics at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad. He is an internationally recognised mathematician and among Pakistan’s highly cited researchers.

The appointment notification has been circulated to the Principal Secretary to the Governor Punjab, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Punjab, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission, Registrar University of Sargodha and other relevant authorities for information and necessary action.

The notification was signed by Dr Saima Anwar Dhamyal, Deputy Secretary (Universities-II), Higher Education Department.

A copy of the notification has also been forwarded to the Superintendent, Punjab Printing Press, with a request for its publication in the Official Gazette.
