The representative said 816 customers had been accommodated by returning their amount. The committee was informed that Rs1.1 billion had been returned out of the total Rs1.18 billion. According to the company representative, 93 percent of the total amount has been returned to customers.
He said the remaining 48 customers are being contacted so that their money can also be returned. The representative assured the committee that the remaining matter would be resolved soon. The committee appreciated Proton Car Company for returning the outstanding money to its customers. Members observed that customers’ payments should be handled responsibly because many people invest their savings in vehicles and expect timely delivery or a refund.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Sajid Mehdi, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Naz Baloch, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto and Muhammad Iqbal Khan. The Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production, along with other senior officials of the ministry and its attached departments also attended the meeting.
The committee made it clear that matters involving customers’ money must be resolved transparently and without unnecessary delay. The company is expected to contact the remaining 48 customers soon to return their amounts.
