Lahore – The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has further strengthened its enforcement against use of fake, cloned and tampered number plates employed to evade E-Challan system. Advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based technology is being utilized to monitor and trace blacklisted, wanted and suspicious vehicles across Punjab.
According to the spokesperson of Punjab Safe Cities Authority, during June 2026, PSCA’s AI-powered camera network identified more than 200 fake, cloned and suspicious vehicles, which were subsequently intercepted by law enforcement agencies through timely action.
The spokesperson stated that PSCA’s AI-based cameras instantly detect suspicious, fake or tampered number plates and automatically generate alerts. Upon receiving these alerts, Virtual Patrolling Officers immediately notify nearest police teams, enabling swift operational response and enforcement.
The spokesperson further stated that use of fake, cloned or tampered number plates is not merely an attempt to evade E-Challan penalties but also constitutes a serious criminal offence that may result in legal action, fines and registration of an FIR.
Punjab Safe Cities Authority is implementing a zero-tolerance policy against any alteration, tampering or illegal use of vehicle registration plates. The spokesperson added that deployment of advanced AI technology has significantly enhanced identification of fake and tampered number plates, improving tracing and apprehension of blacklisted vehicles and those involved in criminal activities.
Punjab Safe Cities Authority has advised citizens to thoroughly verify a vehicle’s registration number, number plate and ownership records before purchasing any vehicle. The Authority also urged the public to refrain from using fake, cloned or tampered number plates, emphasizing that such practices not only invite strict legal action but also pose a serious threat to public safety.
