PTI renews talks offer, seeks Imran’s hospital transfer

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has once again offered to hold talks with the government while demanding that party founder Imran Khan be shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

PTI leader Salman Akram Raja said the party was prepared to engage in negotiations with the government if Imran Khan was transferred to Shifa International Hospital.

Raja said PTI had postponed its planned long march to give the government time to reconsider its decisions. He maintained that there was still an opportunity for the state to correct its course and resolve the ongoing political situation through dialogue.

The latest offer came amid growing political tensions between the PTI and the federal government over Imran Khan’s detention and the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile, federal minister Amir Muqam rejected the possibility of Sohail Afridi continuing as chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that regardless of other options available, Afridi would not be accepted.

Muqam alleged that Afridi’s actions had created grounds for the imposition of governor’s rule in the province. He also urged government officials not to follow what he described as unlawful directives issued by the KP chief minister.

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar also addressed the possibility of governor’s rule in KP. He said that if the constitutional conditions required for such a measure were fulfilled, governor’s rule would be imposed in accordance with the law.

The developments came as political tensions remained high following PTI’s planned long march. The party had postponed the march, which was initially scheduled for September 27, to October 4.

Separately, all major routes connecting Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that had been closed because of the planned long march have been reopened.

However, containers placed along several routes remain in position, indicating that security preparations linked to the protest have not been completely removed.
