Lahore: The Punjab government has strengthened its efforts to promote religious harmony and social cohesion by appointing eight prominent religious scholars and spiritual leaders to the Ittehad-bain-ul-Muslimeen Committee Punjab.
The appointments were approved by Punjab Chief Minister and formally notified by the Auqaf Department. Secretary and Chief Administrator Auqaf Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, described the move as a significant step toward fostering mutual respect, tolerance, and unity among different schools of thought across the province.
The newly inducted members represent major religious traditions, including the Barelvi, Deobandi, Ahle-Hadith, and Shia schools. Their tenure on the committee will continue until April 16, 2029.
