LAHORE:The Punjab government has introduced a new digital facility that will enable citizens to access and download their land registry documents online without having to visit government offices or spend hours in record rooms.

The initiative has been launched by the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) in collaboration with the Board of Revenue under the broader Project for Land Records Reforms. The newly introduced **Record of Documents (ROD) Portal** is aimed at making land-related records more accessible to citizens through an online platform.

According to the PLRA, records maintained by Deputy Commissioner Registrars across Punjab have been digitised and made available through the ROD Portal. Citizens can now search for their registered land documents and obtain copies online while sitting at home.

The digital service is being promoted under the message, **“Record Room – Freedom from the hassle of going,”** highlighting the government’s objective of reducing the need for physical visits to government record offices.

The launch of the portal is being viewed as an important step towards modernising Punjab’s land administration system. Traditionally, people seeking copies of registered documents were required to visit relevant record rooms or offices of Deputy Commissioner Registrars. The process could involve lengthy procedures, waiting times and repeated visits, particularly for citizens living far from the concerned government office.

With the introduction of the online system, citizens can access their land-related documents through a centralised digital platform. The facility is expected to save time and make the process of obtaining registry records more convenient.
