Punjab Govt moves 46 officers to CMIT from surplus pool

LAHORE: The Punjab government has posted 46 officers and officials from the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) Surplus Pool to the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT), with immediate effect and until further orders.

The decision, notified by S&GAD’s Personnel-IV Section on August 27, 2026, is aimed at strengthening the government’s inspection and monitoring mechanism and putting officers currently in the surplus pool to active administrative use.

46 officials directed to report to CMIT

According to notification No. SOP-IV(S&GAD)13-2/2026, the services of the 46 officers and officials have been placed at the disposal of CMIT “in order to perform duties, with immediate effect, until further orders.”

The order directs all the listed personnel to report to the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team for further duties.

The move brings officers from different pay scales into the provincial government’s inspection setup, potentially expanding its capacity to monitor departments, field offices and government-run services.

Who is on the list?

The notification includes seven BPS-18 officers, 35 BPS-17 officers and four BPS-01 officials.

Among the BPS-18 officers named in the order are Arooj Naseer, Rai Sami Ullah, Imran Masood, Tariq Mahmood Aziz, Mudassar Abbas Hashmi, Muhammad Naeem and Ghufran Hussain Chopra.

The BPS-17 list includes Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Saleem, Nabeel Christopher, Rao Rashid Hafeez, Salman ur Rashid, Kashif Latif, Muhammad Jamil Arshad, Shazia Nadeem and Tahir Ahmad Siddiqui, among others. Maryam Naeem Satti and Bakhtawar Mahfooz are also included.

The four BPS-01 officials are Faiz Ahmad, Mirza Muhammad Qasim, Anwar ul Haq and Nazir Bhatti.

Focus on inspection and monitoring

CMIT serves as an important monitoring arm of the provincial administration, with its functions including inspections, assessments and reviews of government departments and public service delivery.

The posting of 46 personnel could provide additional manpower for such activities at a time when provincial authorities are seeking closer oversight of administrative performance.

The notification has been circulated to the Accountant General Punjab, CMIT, Additional Chief Secretary’s Office and the concerned officers for necessary action.

For the 46 personnel, the order marks an immediate shift from the S&GAD Surplus Pool to an operational role under CMIT, with their assignment continuing until further orders.
