The Punjab government has expanded its public transport network with the inauguration of an environment-friendly green bus service in six districts, marking another step toward improving affordable and sustainable transportation across the province.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader plan to modernize public transport while making travel safer, more comfortable, and economical for citizens. She highlighted that the project is particularly benefiting women by providing reliable and secure commuting facilities.

Speaking about the expansion plan, the chief minister said the green bus service will be introduced across Punjab in phases, with the ultimate goal of extending operations to all 148 tehsils of the province. She added that the government is committed to ensuring that quality public transport reaches urban and semi-urban areas alike.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the new buses are environmentally friendly and are designed to help reduce air pollution and carbon emissions while promoting cleaner transportation. She noted that the service combines modern facilities with affordable fares, allowing people from all income groups to travel comfortably without placing an additional financial burden on households.

According to the provincial government, the expansion of the green bus network is expected to improve daily commuting, reduce dependence on private vehicles, and ease traffic congestion in major cities and surrounding districts. Officials believe the project will also encourage greater use of public transport by offering safe, efficient, and low-cost travel options.
