Punjab Police Spokesperson said that on July 06, 2008, nine officers and personnel of Punjab Police embraced martyrdom in a bomb blast while on duty in Islamabad. The martyrs included one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), one Head Constable and seven Constables.
Those who attained the rank of martyrdom were ASI Muhammad Nawaz, Head Constable Atta Ullah, Constables Abid Rasheed, Khalid Mehmood, Babar Ali, Shahid Maqsood, Haq Nawaz, Amjad Iqbal and Qamar Abbas.
