Qatari team heads to Iran for nuclear deal talks

Qatari negotiators traveled to Iran on Wednesday after consulting with U.S. officials, as efforts continue to finalize a potential agreement between Tehran and Washington.

According to CNN, the visit highlights ongoing diplomatic engagement despite recent military tensions. Although a ceasefire has been in place since April 8, Iran and the United States exchanged attacks overnight, creating a significant test for the fragile truce.

The U.S. military said it carried out strikes against targets in Iran in response to the downing of an American military helicopter. However, a U.S. official told CNN that Washington does not expect the incident to derail the negotiations.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said on social media that Iran would face consequences for taking too long to reach an agreement.

In Tehran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Iran is reassessing its talks with the United States following the recent attacks.

A senior Iranian official also told CNN that a key element of any future deal involves the release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets. The official indicated that reaching a final agreement could prove difficult without progress on that issue.
