Rain, storms expected across Pakistan

Pakistan is likely to experience a spell of unstable weather as a western weather system is expected to enter the country’s northern regions from June 11, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The weather system may bring strong winds, thunderstorms, and widespread rainfall to several parts of the country through June 13. Meteorologists have warned that some areas could receive heavy downpours, while hailstorms may also occur in isolated locations.

In Punjab and Islamabad, rain accompanied by gusty winds is expected in Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and nearby districts. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during periods of severe weather.

The northern and mountainous regions, including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Gilgit, Hunza, and Skardu, are likely to receive rain and hailstorms. These weather conditions could affect travel and outdoor activities in the affected areas.

Several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Swat, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, and Kohat, may also experience thunderstorms, strong winds, and intermittent rainfall over the next few days.

In Balochistan, weather officials expect dusty winds and rain in Zhob, Qila Saifullah, and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, upper parts of Sindh, including Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Ghotki, may witness strong dusty winds and turbulent weather conditions.

The PMD has further warned that intense rainfall could inundate low-lying areas of Punjab, increasing the risk of urban flooding. Residents have been urged to stay informed through official weather updates and take necessary precautions.

While the approaching weather system is expected to lower temperatures and bring relief from the summer heat, authorities caution that heavy rain, strong winds, and hailstorms may temporarily disrupt transportation and daily activities in affected regions.
