Rain, thunderstorms likely in Karachi from Sept 14

Karachi is likely to receive thunderstorms and light rain from September 14 to 16 as a weather system moves westward from the Bay of Bengal, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The department said a monsoon low currently located over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast is expected to move towards the west, influencing weather conditions across parts of Sindh.

Under the system’s influence, Karachi Division may experience thunderstorms and light rainfall at intervals between September 14 and 16.

Several other districts of Sindh are also expected to receive dust-thunderstorm rain during the period.

The PMD forecast moderate to isolated heavy rainfall in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan from the evening of September 13 through September 16.

Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jamshoro are likely to receive light to moderate dust-thunderstorm rain from September 14 to 16, with intermittent breaks.

The weather system could bring temporary relief from the prevailing hot and humid conditions in parts of the province. However, residents in areas expecting heavier rainfall have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorms and strong winds.
