Rana Sanaullah takes dig at PPP over federal partnership

MUZAFFARABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has taken a pointed swipe at the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) over its role in the federal government, saying the party would continue working according to its existing position and responsibilities.

Speaking at an election gathering in Haveli and later talking to the media, Rana Sanaullah said the PPP’s role in the federal setup would remain unchanged.

His remarks came amid political activity in Azad Kashmir, where the PML-N is campaigning with a focus on development and addressing public concerns.

Rana Sanaullah said that if the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) formed the government in Azad Kashmir, it would give priority to resolving issues faced by ordinary people.

He said all available resources would be utilised for the development of the region and pledged that the government would work to ease difficulties faced by residents.

The PML-N leader also spoke about the role of an action committee in the region, alleging that some individuals associated with the body were pursuing what he described as a particular agenda.

He did not provide further details about the alleged agenda but criticised those involved in political activity that, according to him, could create challenges for the government and disrupt the political process.

Rana Sanaullah also targeted the PPP, claiming that the party had developed a pattern of alleging electoral rigging whenever it faced defeat.

He argued that political parties should accept election results and focus on serving the public rather than repeatedly raising allegations after losing contests.

His comments come as political parties intensify their activities in Azad Kashmir, with development, governance and public grievances emerging as key issues in the electoral campaign.

The PML-N has been presenting itself as a party capable of delivering development and addressing long-standing problems in the region. Rana Sanaullah reiterated that the party would mobilise resources to improve the lives of residents if it secured power.

At the same time, his remarks about the PPP highlighted the political tensions surrounding the federal coalition. The PPP remains an important partner in the federal political setup, while both parties have maintained their own political positions on various issues.

Rana Sanaullah’s comments are likely to attract further attention because of the timing, as competition among political parties in Azad Kashmir continues to intensify.

For voters, however, the central question remains whether political promises will translate into practical measures on employment, infrastructure, public services and other pressing issues.

With campaigning gaining momentum, statements from senior political figures are expected to shape the electoral narrative in the days ahead.
