ISLAMABAD: Residents of River Garden Islamabad Society have decided to pursue legal action in the High Court over unresolved civic issues, alleged administrative irregularities and repeated increases in maintenance charges without an independent audit.
Residents have raised serious concerns over what they describe as the administration’s failure to address longstanding complaints and provide adequate basic facilities. They say maintenance and other charges have continued to increase unilaterally, despite questions over transparency and the quality of services being provided.
According to residents, a writ petition is being considered to seek judicial intervention on a range of issues, including the administrative and legal status of the company managing the society, alleged pressure on residents, incomplete development work and shortcomings in essential services.
The proposed petition is also expected to highlight problems involving electricity, water supply, roads, streets and security, while seeking clarification regarding the legal status of mortgaged plots and their treatment under relevant CDA bylaws.
Residents are also seeking an independent third-party audit of the society’s development and maintenance income and expenditure to establish greater financial transparency and accountability.
They stressed that the proposed legal action is not aimed at any particular individual or institution but is intended to protect residents’ legal rights, ensure transparency and secure better-quality facilities and services.
The Volunteers Welfare Team said meaningful and lasting solutions to the society’s problems require unity among residents and a peaceful, lawful and sustained effort to seek accountability and resolve outstanding issues.
