LAHORE: The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) organized a Khuli Kachehri (open court) at Al Raheem Garden, Royal Enclave, as part of its public outreach efforts to listen to citizens’ complaints, address their concerns and facilitate the timely resolution of issues faced by residents and affectees.
The open court, organised by RUDA’s Development and Building Control Wing, attracted hundreds of affectees, allottees and residents who approached the authority to raise concerns regarding development charges, possession matters, construction progress, technical approvals and other administrative issues.
The session was presided over by Executive Director RUDA Usman Khan, accompanied by senior officials, including Director RUDA Principal (Retired) Ijaz, Deputy Director Dodo and representatives of the Development and Building Control, Land and Administration wings.
According to details and visuals obtained by *Minute Mirror*, the event was arranged under a marquee tent with seating for participants and a designated stage for the officials. Residents attended with files and documents relating to their properties and outstanding complaints.
During the proceedings, Usman Khan personally listened to complainants and interacted directly with residents instead of delegating the hearings to subordinate officers. The complaints were recorded, while relevant files and registers were available for verification and follow-up action.
Several participants raised concerns about development charges, possession of plots, delays in development work and pending technical approvals. An elderly affectee was also seen presenting his case before the executive director, who listened to the complaint and issued instructions to the relevant officials for necessary action.
The initiative provided residents with an opportunity to communicate their concerns directly to senior authority officials and seek clarification about matters affecting their properties.
Addressing the gathering, Executive Director Usman Khan said providing quality living facilities to the public in Ravi City remained RUDA’s foremost responsibility. He emphasised that the authority would not allow the rights of residents and affectees to be compromised.
“Resolving affectees’ issues is our first priority,” he said, adding that the administration had been directed to ensure that complaints were addressed up to the technical approval stage.
He also urged residents of Al Raheem Garden to deposit their development charges on time, expressing confidence that development work would be completed soon.
RUDA officials assured participants that complaints would be examined and forwarded to the relevant departments for resolution. The initiative was aimed at improving coordination between residents and the authority while ensuring that outstanding matters received appropriate attention.
Participants expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to present their grievances directly before senior officials. They welcomed the authority’s decision to hold the open court within their locality and appreciated the immediate instructions issued during the proceedings.
Residents also expressed hope that the assurances given at the gathering would translate into timely action and visible progress on unresolved matters.
Al Raheem Garden and Royal Enclave are among the residential areas where development-related concerns have prompted residents to seek clarification regarding charges, possession and approvals.
RUDA’s Development and Building Control Wing has initiated open courts in societies falling within its jurisdiction to strengthen public engagement, improve transparency and address complaints concerning development activities.
The latest session forms part of these outreach efforts, intended to bridge communication gaps between the authority and affected residents. Officials said similar public hearings would be organised in other societies in the coming weeks to facilitate direct engagement and improve the handling of public grievances.
