ISLAMABAD: The Russian State Children’s Library and the Embassy of Russia in Pakistan have announced an international cross-cultural children’s art competition aimed at promoting friendship and cultural understanding between young people in Russia and Pakistan.
Titled “What Do You Know About Russia? What Do You Know About Pakistan?”, the competition invites children between the ages of 6 and 14 to explore the culture and traditions of the two countries through artwork.
The competition has been divided into two age categories. Children aged 6 to 10 will participate in one group, while those aged 11 to 14 will compete in the second category.
The organisers said electronic entries will be accepted from September 1 to November 30, 2026.
Children participating from Pakistan are being invited to create artwork inspired by Russia, while participants from Russia will present their artistic impressions of Pakistan.
The competition gives young artists an opportunity to express what they know or have discovered about another country. Participants can draw inspiration from a wide range of subjects, including nature, cities, literature, cultural traditions, festivals, national costumes and everyday life.
The organisers have encouraged children to develop their own creative interpretations rather than simply reproducing familiar images. Their artwork can reflect information they have learned, places they have seen or cultural experiences that have shaped their understanding of Russia or Pakistan.
The initiative is intended to introduce children to another country and its cultural heritage in an engaging and creative way. Through art, participants can share their impressions while learning about similarities and differences between the two societies.
The organisers believe such cultural exchanges can help young people develop greater understanding and appreciation of different traditions and ways of life.

The results of the international competition are scheduled to be announced in February 2027.
