Pakistani actress Saboor Aly has opened up about her decision to send her 18-month-old daughter, Serena, to preschool, explaining that the early experience is helping the toddler develop social skills and become comfortable around other people.
Saboor recently appeared on the television programme Hansna Mana Hai, where she discussed motherhood and shared details about her daughter’s routine. The actress revealed that Serena, who is only a year and a half old, has already started attending preschool.
The revelation surprised the programme’s host, prompting Saboor to explain that Serena does not spend long hours at school. She currently attends for around 15 to 20 minutes, where she plays and interacts with other children before returning home.
According to Saboor, the purpose of sending Serena to preschool at such a young age is not formal education but social development. She said the experience is helping her daughter improve her social skills and learn how to interact with people outside her immediate family.
The actress also said she believes it is important for children to spend some time away from their parents. She explained that Serena needs to gradually understand how to manage when her parents are not around and learn how to behave and communicate with others.
Saboor recalled that Serena’s introductory day at school was particularly emotional. She said it was the only day when her daughter cried heavily, which made her feel embarrassed because none of the other children were crying at the time.
Despite the difficult beginning, Saboor described Serena as a very social child. She said her daughter has now become comfortable with the school environment and, instead of resisting going there, sometimes does not want to leave when it is time to return home.
