Sabrina Carpenter adds first Emmy to growing awards collection

Sabrina Carpenter has added another major achievement to her rapidly growing list of accolades after taking home her first Emmy Award at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

The singer, songwriter and performer earned the prestigious honor during the first night of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, September 5. The ceremony recognized outstanding work across a wide range of television categories, including technical achievements, creative contributions, guest performances, unscripted programming and variety specials.

Carpenter was among the notable winners of the evening, securing an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for The Muppet Show. The victory marks another important milestone in what has been an impressive awards run for the pop star.

Sabrina Carpenter’s role in The Muppet Show

Carpenter was involved with The Muppet Show as both an executive producer and performer. The Disney+ special brought back the iconic Muppets for a modern variety program featuring comedy sketches, musical performances and appearances from several celebrity guests.

The project premiered on February 4, 2026, and was directed by Alex Timbers. It quickly attracted significant attention from viewers and critics, while its combination of comedy, music and the classic Muppet characters helped make it one of the year’s notable variety projects.

The special received six Emmy nominations and had a particularly successful night at the Creative Arts ceremony. In addition to winning the top prize for Outstanding Variety Special, it collected awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special.

The project still has another opportunity to add to its Emmy haul, with Matt Vogel receiving a nomination for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for his portrayal of Kermit the Frog.

Sabrina’s journey toward EGOT status

The Emmy win is especially significant for Carpenter because it adds another major entertainment award to her collection.

In February 2025, she enjoyed a breakthrough night at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, where she won two awards. Her hit song Espresso earned the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance, while her album Short n’ Sweet won Best Pop Vocal Album.

With a Grammy and now an Emmy under her belt, Carpenter has taken another step toward the coveted EGOT distinction. However, she is not yet halfway to an EGOT in the sense of completing two of the four awards; she would need to eventually win an Oscar and a Tony as well.

EGOT is the commonly used acronym for the four major American entertainment honors: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. Only a select group of entertainers have managed to win all four awards during their careers.

Other major winners on Creative Arts Emmy Night One

Carpenter was not the only high-profile name to make headlines during the first night of the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Actress Mariska Hargitay and musician Bad Bunny were also among the prominent winners recognized during the ceremony.

The first Creative Arts Emmy gala focused largely on categories that celebrate the creative and technical talent responsible for bringing television productions to life. The second night of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards is scheduled for Sunday, September 6.

The festivities will then continue with the main 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, which are scheduled to take place on Monday, September 14, 2026.

For Carpenter, however, the first Creative Arts ceremony has already delivered a career-defining moment. Her first Emmy adds to her Grammy success and further establishes her as one of the entertainment industry’s most rapidly rising multi-talented stars.
