Bad Bunny moves closer to EGOT after historic Emmy win

Bad Bunny has taken another major step toward achieving the coveted EGOT status after securing his first Primetime Emmy Award at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

The Puerto Rican superstar, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, won the Emmy during the first night of the ceremony, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 5. His victory came for the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny, which aired on NBC.

The award-winning halftime performance made history by collecting seven Emmy awards across major creative and technical categories. The achievement marks a significant milestone in Bad Bunny’s career and places him closer to the exclusive group of entertainers who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.

The impressive haul also set a new record for a Super Bowl halftime show at the Emmys. It surpassed the previous record held by the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show Starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent, which won four Emmy awards following its 2022 performance.

Bad Bunny’s latest achievement comes just months after another historic milestone at the Grammy Awards. In February 2026, the singer became the first artist to win the Grammy for Album of the Year with a Spanish-language album. He took home the prestigious honor for his critically acclaimed album Debí Tirar Más Fotos.
