Saim Ayub’s stunning century powers Kings to CPL victory

GEORGETOWN: Pakistan opener Saim Ayub produced a spectacular batting display in the Caribbean Premier League 2026, smashing a quick-fire century to help the Kings secure an impressive victory over the Patriots.

Ayub turned the match into a one-man show with a powerful 102 off 58 balls, sending the ball over the boundary eight times while also hitting six fours. His aggressive innings provided the foundation for the Kings to post a competitive total of 182 for seven in 20 overs.

The Pakistani opener kept the pressure on the Patriots bowlers throughout his stay at the crease, combining clean hitting with confident stroke play. His century proved decisive as the Kings successfully defended their total.

Cameron Paul added valuable runs late in the innings, scoring 25 from 13 deliveries, while captain Romain Powell contributed 21. Their efforts helped the Kings maintain the momentum after Ayub’s explosive start.

Andre Fletcher led the chase with an entertaining 55 off 38 balls, but his innings could not take the Patriots over the line. Dasun Shanaka also provided late resistance, smashing 35 from just 18 deliveries.

The Kings’ bowlers held their nerve during the crucial stages of the chase. Jedia Blades and Haneen Shah took two wickets each, while Ayub and Cameron Paul picked up one wicket apiece.

Ayub’s all-round contribution made him the standout performer of the match. His century not only powered the Kings to victory but also underlined the Pakistani opener’s growing impact in franchise cricket.
