School Security Guard Arrested for Assaulting 6th-Grade Student in Multan

MULTAN : A security guard has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a sixth-grade student at a government girls school in Multan.

*Details of the Incident:*

According to Multan Police, the tragic incident took place at the Girls Elementary School, Sadiqabad. Police officials have confirmed that the security guard accused of assaulting the sixth-grade student has been taken into custody.

Police sources have identified the arrested accused as *Munir Ahmed*, who was posted at the same school as a security guard and was on duty at the school’s canteen and entrance.

*Contents of the FIR:*

According to the FIR registered on the complaint of the victim’s family:

– The accused called the student to the school canteen on some pretext
– He assaulted her there
– And threatened her that if she told anyone at home, he would kill her family members

According to police, due to fear, the victim remained silent for two days. After two days, when her condition deteriorated and her parents asked for the reason, she told her family about the entire incident while crying.

The family immediately contacted the concerned police station and got a case registered against the accused, Munir Ahmed.

*CPO Multan’s Statement:*

Taking notice of the incident, CPO Multan Akhtar Farooq said:

> “The medical examination of the victim has been conducted immediately. The initial medical report has confirmed the assault. The accused is in custody and is being interrogated, further legal action is being taken in accordance with the law.”

The CPO added that no negligence regarding the protection of children will be tolerated.

*Legal Proceedings:*

According to police sources, a case has been registered against the accused under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He will be produced before the court today to obtain physical remand.

*Concern in Education Department:*

Following the incident, there is serious concern among the Multan Education Department and parents. Parents question on what merit security guards are recruited in schools where their daughters are not safe, and why their judicial verification is not done.

The District Education Authority has also sought an explanation from the Headmistress of the school as to how the student went to the canteen during school timing and where the staff was.

The incident has raised a big question mark over security arrangements in government schools across Punjab.
