The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province for 10 days following reports of potential security threats, according to the provincial Home Department.
The restrictions will remain in force from October 6 to October 15. Under the order, gatherings of five or more people at public places, roads and open spaces have been prohibited. Processions and other public gatherings will also be restricted during the period.
The Home Department said carrying or displaying weapons at public places has also been banned. People will not be allowed to encourage or facilitate participation in gatherings that violate the restrictions.
Officials said the measures were introduced after intelligence agencies reported possible security threats. The restrictions are intended to help maintain public safety and prevent any untoward incident during the sensitive period.
