ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed 11 militants belonging to groups referred to by authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan during separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, security sources said.

In Bannu, an intelligence-based operation was conducted after security forces received information about the presence of militants. During the operation, two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the militants’ possession.

In another operation in the Ladha area of South Waziristan, security personnel targeted a group of Fitna al-Khawarij militants. Five terrorists were killed during the operation, according to security sources.

Meanwhile, security forces carried out an operation in the Sasool area of Khuzdar district in Balochistan against militants described by authorities as Fitna al-Hindustan terrorists.

Four terrorists were killed in the Khuzdar operation, bringing the total number of militants eliminated in the three operations to 11.

Security sources said the forces effectively engaged the militants with the assistance of quadcopters during the Khuzdar operation. The use of aerial surveillance helped security personnel identify and target the militants’ positions.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered following the operations, while sanitisation operations were launched in the affected areas to ensure that no other militants remained in the vicinity.

The latest operations come amid continued security efforts against militant groups operating in different parts of the country, particularly in areas bordering Afghanistan and parts of Balochistan.
