The ISPR said the terrorists belonged to “India-sponsored Fitna al Khawarij.” This is the term the state uses for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The statement said the terrorists were “sent to hell” after fierce exchanges of fire. Weapons and ammunition were found with the slain terrorists. The ISPR said these terrorists were actively involved in many attacks. They also took part in the targeted killing of innocent civilians. The operations were a continuation of a series of intelligence-based operations. The military has been carrying out such operations for some time. North Waziristan is a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It has been a focus of counter-terrorism efforts for many years.

The ISPR made a special mention of one victim. The statement said the killing of a prominent figure, Shaheed Malik Saifullah Dawar, has now been avenged. He was targeted in Miranshah. The perpetrators of that killing have been brought to justice, the ISPR said. Dawar was a well-known local leader. His death had shocked the community. The security forces said the group of terrorists killed in these operations was responsible for his murder. The military has been increasing its operations in recent weeks.
