Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the latest Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, reaffirming Pakistan’s firm commitment to the kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
In a statement shared on social media platform X on Friday, the prime minister expressed concern over attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport. He also highlighted reports of civilian casualties resulting from the attacks.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and praised the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi armed forces and the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen for intercepting ballistic missiles targeting the kingdom.
The prime minister stressed that Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security remained unwavering under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement. He also referred to the recent decisions of the agreement’s Strategic Political and Defence Committee, reaffirming Islamabad’s determination to stand by Riyadh amid growing security threats.
He reiterated Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia’s right to defend itself against attacks and stressed the importance of protecting its territory and people.
The premier also urged the Houthis to immediately halt their attacks, warning against actions that threaten regional stability and endanger civilian lives.
