Sidharth Malhotra faces trolling over Kiara Advani’s Toxic scenes

Kiara Advani’s role in Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has sparked considerable discussion online following the film’s theatrical release, with some of the conversation unexpectedly spilling onto her husband Sidharth Malhotra’s social media account.

The Yash-starrer, which arrived in cinemas on August 26, features Kiara as Nadia, a character whose scenes with Yash have attracted attention from audiences on social media. While much of the discussion has focused on the film itself, some users have instead targeted Sidharth’s Instagram posts with comments about Kiara’s role and her on-screen pairing with Yash.

Sidharth had recently shared an advertising reel on Instagram. Soon after, the comments section reportedly became filled with references to Kiara’s character in Toxic and her scenes with Yash. Some users appeared to make jokes about the actor’s real-life relationship with Kiara, while others questioned how he felt about her appearance in the film.

One comment directed at Sidharth read, “Teri biwi Yash ke saath hai dekh le,” while another user asked, “Aap kaise husband ho, yeh movie kaise banane diya?” The remarks appeared to connect Kiara’s fictional role with her personal relationship with Sidharth.

Other comments were more provocative, with some users suggesting that divorce was the answer and making references to Sidharth supposedly seeking justice. The comments reflected the way some social media users had blurred the line between the actors’ on-screen roles and their personal lives.

The trolling also included references to Kiara’s pregnancy during the production of the film. Rather than limiting the discussion to her performance, some commenters brought up personal aspects of the actor’s life while reacting to her scenes in Toxic.

This was reportedly not the first time Sidharth’s social media pages had attracted such comments. Similar remarks had appeared under a birthday post that he had shared for Kiara, with users again bringing up her role in the Yash-led film and commenting on the scenes involving the two actors.

Despite the online reactions, Yash has previously spoken positively about Kiara’s dedication to the project. At the trailer launch of Toxic, he praised her preparation and commitment, suggesting that audiences had only seen a small part of her performance in the promotional material.

Yash also spoke about Kiara’s attitude while working on the film. He praised her for being grounded and for fully committing herself to the director’s vision. His comments highlighted the professional effort that went into creating her character rather than focusing on the online speculation surrounding her scenes.

Kiara herself had earlier described her role in Toxic as one of the most challenging experiences of her career. When her character poster was unveiled, she spoke about how much the role had demanded from her physically, mentally and emotionally.

The actor had also referred to the project as her “toughest one yet,” indicating that the part required months of preparation and intense work. Her comments suggested that her focus throughout the production had been on meeting the demands of the character.

Interestingly, similar trolling has reportedly not been directed toward Yash’s wife, Radhika Pandit, on her social media accounts in relation to the film. This difference has also become part of the online conversation, with some users comparing how the spouses of the two actors have been treated by audiences.

Neither Sidharth Malhotra nor Kiara Advani has publicly responded to the comments surrounding the film. For now, the discussion continues largely among social media users, while Toxic remains the focus of attention following its theatrical release.
