Sindh Assembly speaker cracks down on video-making

Sindh Assembly Speaker Owais Qadir Shah has expressed strong displeasure over lawmakers making videos inside the assembly hall during a session.

The speaker said the practice was against the decorum of the provincial assembly. He stressed that the assembly was a place of serious parliamentary proceedings and must be treated with respect.

Owais Qadir Shah reminded members that the house has its own dignity and sanctity. He said it was the responsibility of all lawmakers to protect and maintain that dignity.

The speaker directed members to immediately stop making videos inside the assembly hall. He urged lawmakers to follow the rules and maintain discipline during the proceedings.

He also clarified that members were free to express their views in the house. He said no lawmaker was being stopped from speaking or presenting an opinion.

According to the speaker, members should use their speeches to raise political, public and constituency-related issues instead of recording videos during the proceedings.

Owais Qadir Shah further assured lawmakers that they would not lose access to their speeches or parliamentary proceedings. He said recordings of their speeches and the proceedings would be provided to them.

The speaker’s remarks came during a session of the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday. His comments focused on maintaining parliamentary discipline and protecting the dignity of the house.

The issue of lawmakers recording videos inside the assembly has drawn attention as members increasingly use mobile phones and social media to share content.

The speaker’s directive makes it clear that such activities will not be allowed to interfere with the formal proceedings of the provincial legislature.
