Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul Hassan Lanjar has said he was summoned by the judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza case due to a misunderstanding, while assuring that the government would fully cooperate with the inquiry.

Speaking to reporters outside the Sindh High Court in Karachi, Lanjar said he had appeared before the commission and tendered an unconditional apology. He expressed hope that the commission would continue its proceedings in a transparent and impartial manner.

The minister said the government wanted the facts surrounding the case to emerge through a proper investigation and stressed that the families affected by the incident should receive justice.

“We want the heirs to get justice,” Lanjar said, adding that it was important for the commission to complete its work and issue its findings so that the circumstances surrounding the case could be established.

He said he had also assured the commission that the government would provide all necessary assistance and resources required for the inquiry.

According to Lanjar, the government would accept the commission’s findings and ensure that the investigation moved forward in line with whatever decision was reached by the inquiry body.

The Sindh home minister further said that those found responsible for the incident would face legal consequences. He maintained that he had shared all the information available to him with the commission.

Lanjar also referred to a request concerning the joint investigation team (JIT), saying that the relevant application had already been rejected by the court.

Meanwhile, the judicial commission probing the Mir Raza case has begun receiving information from members of the public. Citizens have reportedly started providing details that could assist the commission in establishing the circumstances of the case.

The commission’s efforts to collect information from different sources are expected to help investigators examine the events surrounding the incident and determine whether any individuals or officials were responsible for wrongdoing.

Lanjar reiterated that the provincial government would not interfere with the commission’s proceedings and would support whatever steps were considered necessary for a transparent inquiry.
