Sindh safe cities authority plans installation of advanced cameras at no-parking zones in Karachi

The Sindh Safe Cities Authority has decided to install modern surveillance cameras at nine designated no-parking areas across Karachi as part of its efforts to improve traffic management and ensure better enforcement of road regulations.

According to Director General of the Sindh Safe Cities Authority, Sarfaraz Nawaz, vehicle owners who violate no-parking rules will receive electronic challans (e-challans) through the newly installed monitoring system. The initiative aims to reduce illegal parking, improve traffic flow, and promote compliance with traffic laws in the city.

Sarfaraz Nawaz stated that the authority has already developed an advanced surveillance network throughout Karachi. He added that more than 1,300 modern artificial intelligence (AI)-based cameras have been installed at different locations across the city to monitor activities and assist law enforcement agencies.

The installation of AI-powered cameras is part of a broader strategy to modernize urban security and traffic monitoring systems. These advanced cameras are designed to provide real-time surveillance, identify violations, and support authorities in taking timely action against those who break traffic regulations.

Officials believe that the introduction of automated monitoring systems will help reduce the burden on traffic police personnel and improve the efficiency of enforcement operations. Vehicle owners who violate parking regulations will receive electronic notices, allowing authorities to maintain proper records of violations and ensure that penalties are issued according to established procedures.
