Sohail Sameer apologises over viral inappropriate video

Pakistani actor Sohail Sameer has publicly apologised after an old video featuring him surfaced on social media and sparked criticism among viewers.

A clip involving the actor and a female actress began circulating online several days ago. Although the footage was reportedly taken from a film and dates back around a decade, some of its scenes drew strong reactions from social media users. Many viewers expressed disappointment over the content, leading the clip to attract widespread attention online.

Following the renewed circulation of the footage, Sohail Sameer decided to address the controversy himself. Taking to social media, the actor acknowledged the concerns raised by viewers and issued an emotional apology to those who felt hurt, uncomfortable or disappointed after watching the viral clip.

In his statement, Sameer expressed regret over his involvement in the scenes and said he was sincerely sorry to everyone who had been affected by the video.

“I sincerely apologise from the bottom of my heart to everyone who felt hurt, distressed or disappointed because of this viral clip,” the actor said, explaining that the footage was approximately 10 years old.

Sameer acknowledged that when the scenes were originally filmed, he may not have fully considered how his actions could be viewed in the future. However, seeing the footage resurface and spread widely on social media made him reflect on his actions and their possible impact on his family and audience.

The actor said that he now understands the situation from a different perspective, particularly because he has women in his own family. Referring to his mother, sisters and daughters, he questioned how he would feel if similar material involving someone from his own family were circulated publicly.

“I may not have realised at the time that something I did in the past could come back in this way in the future,” Sameer explained. He added that the recent controversy had made him think deeply about his responsibilities and the consequences of his past decisions.

The actor did not attempt to dismiss his role in the footage. Instead, he accepted responsibility and admitted that he should not have participated in such content, regardless of the circumstances surrounding it at the time.

Sameer described himself as genuinely ashamed and deeply regretful over the decision. He said that, looking back, he believed he should have exercised better judgment before agreeing to appear in such scenes.

The actor also reflected on the importance of maintaining one’s reputation, saying that building respect and dignity can take years, while losing them can happen within a single moment.

“I am truly ashamed and sorry. I should not have done such content at that time, regardless of the circumstances,” he said.

Sameer stressed that he accepts his mistake and is sincerely remorseful for it. Rather than ignoring the criticism, he chose to directly address his followers and ask them for forgiveness.

The controversy has once again highlighted how older entertainment content can resurface years later, particularly in the age of social media, where previously limited footage can quickly reach a large audience.
