Actress and model Sunita Marshall has spoken openly about the controversy surrounding her appearance on Nadir Ali’s podcast, saying the incident became an unexpected learning experience while also highlighting the overwhelming support she received from people in Pakistan and abroad.

During a recent podcast interview, Sunita explained that she was initially hesitant to appear on Nadir Ali’s show because some of his previous interviews had already generated controversy. She said he repeatedly contacted her and later approached her husband, actor Hassan Ahmed, through mutual acquaintances to convince her to participate.

Sunita said she eventually agreed to the interview, believing there was nothing controversial about her personality or views. According to her, the conversation during the recording remained respectful and friendly, and she left without expecting any public backlash.

However, after the episode was released, social media users began discussing a remark made during the interview. Sunita said she only became aware of the issue after people started tagging her online. She then watched the interview again and realised that a particular phrase had attracted public attention.

She said the expression used in the interview is commonly heard in everyday conversations in Pakistan and that she did not view it as unusual during the recording. She added that many viewers interpreted the moment differently, turning it into a widely discussed controversy.

Reflecting on the incident, Sunita said the episode served as a lesson for everyone involved. She also expressed gratitude for the support she received from fans, saying people from Pakistan as well as countries including India, Bangladesh and Nepal stood by her during the online debate.

Speaking about her life as a member of Pakistan’s Christian community, Sunita said she has generally had positive experiences while living in urban areas. She noted that she has not personally faced significant discrimination in cities, where people are often more educated and accepting.

At the same time, she expressed concern for minority communities living in rural parts of the country. According to Sunita, people residing in remote areas continue to face greater social challenges and require more awareness, tolerance and equal opportunities.

Sunita Marshall is regarded as one of Pakistan’s leading actresses and models. After beginning her career in the fashion industry, she successfully transitioned to television and has appeared in several popular drama serials over the years. She has been married to actor Hassan Ahmed since 2009, and the couple has two children.
