Taqi Usmani re-elected Wifaq president

At a joint electoral meeting of the Wifaq-ul-Madaris held at Darul Uloom Karachi, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani was unanimously re-elected as the President of the organization for a second term without facing any opposition.

According to the official statement issued after the meeting, Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandhari was also unanimously re-elected as the Nazim-e-Ala (Secretary General) for an unprecedented seventh consecutive term. The nominations for both key positions reflected a broad consensus among the leadership of the federation. Maulana Fazlur Rehman formally proposed the name of Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani for the presidency, while he also nominated Maulana Hanif Jalandhari for the office of Secretary General. Both nominations received unanimous approval from the participants, with no opposing candidates contesting either position.

The election meeting was attended by more than one thousand members representing the federation’s affiliated religious seminaries from across the country. The participants collectively expressed their confidence in the existing leadership, reaffirming their trust in Mufti Taqi Usmani and Maulana Hanif Jalandhari to continue guiding the organization. The unanimous outcome highlighted the strong support enjoyed by the current leadership within the federation.

The official communiqué further stated that both Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani and Maulana Hanif Jalandhari will serve a new five-year term at the helm of Wifaq-ul-Madaris. Their re-election is expected to provide continuity in the administration of the country’s largest federation of Islamic seminaries, which oversees the academic standards, examinations, and coordination of thousands of affiliated religious institutions.

Following the announcement of the election results, Maulana Fazlur Rehman extended his congratulations to the newly elected office bearers. He expressed hope that the new leadership would continue working effectively to strengthen unity among religious seminaries and promote Islamic values throughout the country. He emphasized the importance of preserving harmony among educational institutions and fostering cooperation in matters of religious education and scholarship.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Fazlur Rehman also highlighted the principles that contribute to the success of institutions and movements. He remarked that successful movements advance through adherence to sound principles, well-planned strategies, and clear policies. According to him, sustainable progress depends on maintaining organizational discipline, collective wisdom, and a shared vision for the future.

He further stressed that differences of opinion are natural within any organization or society, but such disagreements should always be addressed with mutual respect, logical reasoning, and constructive dialogue. He underscored that healthy discussion and respectful exchange of views strengthen institutions rather than weaken them, provided they remain within the bounds of civility and ethical conduct.
