Three traffic police officers martyred in Tank attack

TANK: Three traffic police officers were killed when unidentified armed attackers opened fire on a police mobile in Tank district, officials said.

According to District Police Officer Abdul Samad Khan, the incident took place in Wazirabad Bazaar, where armed men targeted a traffic police vehicle. Three officers travelling in the vehicle died at the scene after coming under heavy gunfire.

The attackers fled the area after the assault. Police said the suspects also took the traffic police mobile with them. The vehicle was later recovered from the Garah Budha area.

Two passers-by were also injured in the attack. They were shifted for medical treatment following the incident.

An Assistant Sub-Inspector, identified as Ismatullah, was also injured in the firing. He was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for immediate medical treatment.

Police launched a search operation to trace the attackers. Authorities said checkpoints have been established along major roads and other possible escape routes. Security personnel are also checking pedestrian routes in an effort to prevent the suspects from leaving the area.

The motive behind the attack was not immediately known. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.

Security officials said efforts were continuing to identify and arrest those involved in the attack. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
