Addressing a federal cabinet meeting on Sunday, the prime minister said civilians and security personnel had been targeted in terrorist attacks for the past two years. He said the Pakistan Army was conducting operations day and night to pursue militants and eliminate them, but alleged that the KP government had remained a silent spectator instead of taking effective measures against terrorism.
Shehbaz Sharif said the federal government had provided Rs800 billion to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 10 years to support the fight against terrorism. However, he alleged that the provincial government had failed to strengthen its Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) despite the funds allocated for security and counterterrorism efforts.
