TWICE members explore solo future amid JYP contract renewal

As contract renewal discussions continue, several members of K-pop girl group TWICE are reportedly exploring new opportunities outside JYP Entertainment while remaining committed to the group.

Group leader Jihyo is expected to pursue her solo career independently after spending more than two decades with JYP Entertainment, having joined the company as a trainee in 2005. Reports suggest she has been meeting with various entertainment industry officials and is likely to establish her own agency to manage her solo activities.

Despite the reported change in management, Jihyo is expected to continue participating in TWICE’s group promotions. If the move goes ahead, her individual projects would be handled separately while she remains active as a member of the group.

Reports also claim that fellow members Tzuyu, Chaeyoung, and Jeongyeon are considering similar arrangements. Rather than leaving the group, they are said to be exploring different agencies for their solo careers while continuing to take part in TWICE’s activities.

Taiwanese member Tzuyu is reportedly weighing the option of not renewing her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment after more than a decade. Industry reports indicate that she intends to remain with TWICE while managing her solo career through a different company, although no official confirmation has been made.

Meanwhile, Chaeyoung has reportedly met with several entertainment agencies as discussions regarding her future continue. While she is said to be reviewing different options for solo promotions, there has been no announcement regarding a final decision or contract agreement.

Jeongyeon has also attracted attention after reports claimed she was seen meeting with another agency, where her older sister, actress Gong Seung Yeon, is currently signed. However, no official details have been released regarding her future plans.

Responding to the growing speculation, JYP Entertainment said that contract renewal discussions with TWICE are still underway and that an official announcement will be made once the process has been completed.

TWICE, one of the most successful K-pop girl groups, debuted in 2015 and consists of nine members. The group previously renewed its contracts with JYP Entertainment as a full team in 2022, making the current negotiations their second major contract renewal.

The reports surfaced shortly after TWICE wrapped up its sixth world tour, THIS IS FOR, with three encore concerts held at Seoul’s KSPO Dome from July 10 to July 12. The tour included 81 concerts across 44 cities and regions, making it the biggest world tour of the group’s career to date.
