Tyre removed from Elephant’s neck

A major rescue operation in India has saved an elephant after a tyre became stuck around its neck. According to Indian media reports the incident took place in Golaghat district of Assam where forest officials spotted the elephant in the Morongi forest area.

Elephant spotted with tyre around its neck forest officials noticed that the elephant had a tyre tightly stuck around its neck.

The animal was also seen moving with its herd.

A video of the elephant has also gone viral on social media, showing it walking through the forest with the other elephants.

Forest officials launch rescue operation

After seeing the animal in danger forest department officials decided to intervene and began a rescue operation.

The team worked carefully for several hours to remove the tyre without causing further harm to the elephant.

Tyre safely removed

The elephant was eventually tranquilized in the evening so that rescuers could safely approach it. After several hours of effort the team successfully removed the tyre from the elephant’s neck without causing any reported injury. The successful operation allowed the elephant to return safely to its herd.
