Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that a possible agreement between the United States and Iran could be finalized within the next one to two days. He expressed hope that the breakthrough would come soon as both sides move closer to consensus.

The minister said that discussions between Washington and Tehran have reached an advanced stage. He added that Pakistan has played a facilitating role in bringing both sides to the negotiating table.

Khawaja Asif said Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts are being recognized internationally. He noted that the proposed agreement is being referred to in some circles as the “Islamabad Pact,” highlighting Pakistan’s involvement in the peace process.

He said Pakistan consistently worked to keep dialogue open between the two sides despite difficult circumstances. According to him, prolonged negotiations were necessary to ensure that communication channels remained active and no breakdown occurred.

The defense minister said that Pakistan helped create space for talks by engaging both parties and encouraging continued dialogue. He expressed optimism that a formal agreement could be announced soon.

Khawaja Asif also commented on regional tensions. He said Israel had played a negative role in past conflicts, including in Lebanon, where civilian casualties occurred. He added that certain actions were aimed at prolonging instability in the region.

He said the United States showed restraint and diplomatic maturity in handling the situation. He added that Iran also responded with strength and defended its national interests with determination.

The minister said Gulf countries also showed patience and restraint during the tensions. He added that Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue was a matter of pride for the country.

He said peace in the region depends on negotiations rather than conflict. According to him, war and bloodshed cannot resolve disputes.

Khawaja Asif further said there are expectations of improved peace conditions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the near future. He stressed that lasting solutions can only come through dialogue and continued engagement between parties.
