A video allegedly showing Faisalabad Police officials receiving money from a citizen inside a moving vehicle has surfaced on social media,

LAHORE:  A video allegedly showing Faisalabad Police officials receiving money from a citizen inside a moving vehicle has surfaced on social media, raising fresh questions over alleged corruption and police conduct amid an ongoing anti-corruption campaign across Punjab.

According to the individual who shared the footage with Minute Mirror, the police officials allegedly demanded money from the citizen and took Rs500 from his pocket. The person further claimed that Rs100 was later returned to him, allegedly telling him to use the money to go home.

The footage reviewed by Minute Mirror appears to show two men wearing khaki police uniforms inside a vehicle. One of the individuals can be seen counting Pakistani currency notes, while a mobile phone is visible on his lap. He also appears to handle a white document during the recording.

In another portion of the video, the same uniformed individual is seen standing beside a roadside stall containing jars of snacks and cigarettes. He appears to be speaking and gesturing while several vehicles, motorcycles and rickshaws pass through the area. A blue vehicle bearing the emergency police number “15” is also visible in the background.

Audio accompanying the footage contains several references to money and payments. In one portion, a voice can allegedly be heard saying that “fifteen thousand rupees” have to be paid for gas. Other portions include references to giving money, taking an amount from an account and a statement suggesting that only Rs300 had been brought.

The audio also contains remarks in Punjabi, including allegations that someone was committing injustice and references to having to “do everything.”

However, Minute Mirror could not independently verify the authenticity of the audio or establish the identities of the individuals appearing in the footage. It also could not independently determine the circumstances under which the video was recorded.

The citizen who shared the clip appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, calling for the installation of body cameras for police personnel. In a social media post accompanying the footage, the citizen argued that such measures could help prevent alleged corruption and improve accountability among police officials.

The video has surfaced at a time when authorities in Punjab are conducting an intensified campaign against alleged corruption and irregularities in government departments and public offices.

Minute Mirror contacted Regional Police Officer Faisalabad DIG Sohail Sukhera through his official WhatsApp number and shared the footage with him, seeking his comments and clarification regarding the allegations. The newspaper also sought information on whether any inquiry or departmental action had been initiated in connection with the video.

No response had been received from the RPO office at the time of filing this report.
